Director of Construction
Roles:
Directors of Construction are responsible for planning, budgeting and coordinating construction projects. Their roles depend on their industry and areas of expertise, but generally they include responsibilities like:
Reviewing contracts or bids with Construction Managers prior to bid approval meetings and agreeing on contractor selection, scope of work, schedule and construction start dates
Supervising construction projects, either in whole or in part
Managing all site personnel and subcontractors
Managing communications and negotiations with owners, lawyers, architects, engineers, and contractors throughout design, development, construction and renovation.
Establishing and maintaining construction time, quality and cost standards and estimating project costs
Ongoing, timely communication and reporting to senior management on major issues, challenges and performance.
Education:
A degree in architecture, construction, engineering or construction management is usually required.
