Roles:
Construction Managers are responsible for the overall organization, execution, safety, quality and productivity of construction projects from the start of projects to completion. This can include activities like:

  • Managing construction efforts to ensure projects are completed according to design, and making sure they are on budget and on schedule
  • Planning and organizing site personnel, subcontractors, equipment and materials
  • Ensuring the maintenance of work procedures, quality standards and compliance with project requirements and specifications
  • Assisting in the review and analysis of project status reports, cost reports and schedules
  • Ensuring ongoing, timely communication and reporting to senior management on major issues, challenges and performance.
  • Education:
    Educational backgrounds will vary depending on the type of construction work you are applying for. However, a degree in Engineering or as a Technologist is generally Preferred. Experience in the desired industry (e.g. construction, oil and gas) is also needed. A solid background in budgeting, scheduling, computerized estimating, leadership and management experience is also preferred.
