Pipefitters lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related equipment for the transfer of fluids and systems such as oil, water, heating, cooling and processing on oil and gas and construction sites. Their role can vary depending on the site and job, but some of their responsibilities can include:
Education:
To work in Alberta, Pipefitters must be either a registered apprentice, an Alberta-certified journeyperson or someone who holds a recognized related trade certificate. The term for apprenticeship is three years and includes a mix of on the job and in-school training.
